Malpua is a traditional Indian sweet that is crispy on the edges and soft inside. It is often prepared during festivals like Holi and special occasions. Malpua is usually served with sugar syrup or rabri, making it rich and delicious.

If you want to make tasty homemade malpua, follow this simple recipe.


Ingredients

For Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons semolina (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

For Frying

  • Ghee or oil

For Sugar Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

Method

1. Prepare Batter

Mix flour, milk, sugar, fennel seeds, cardamom powder, and semolina. Make a smooth batter and rest for 20–30 minutes.

2. Prepare Syrup

Boil sugar and water until slightly sticky. Add cardamom powder and keep warm.

3. Fry Malpua

Heat ghee in a pan. Pour small batter circles and fry until golden brown on both sides.

4. Soak in Syrup

Dip fried malpua into warm sugar syrup for a few seconds.

5. Serve

Serve hot or warm, optionally with rabri.
