Fish Curry Recipe
Fish curry is a popular and flavorful dish enjoyed in many parts of India. It is made with fresh fish, aromatic spices, and a tangy gravy. The combination of spices gives it a rich taste that pairs perfectly with rice.

Ingredients
- 500 grams fish (any firm fish like rohu, katla, or surmai)
- 2 onions (finely chopped)
- 2 tomatoes (pureed)
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2–3 tablespoons mustard oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 1–2 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Method
1. Clean Fish
Wash fish pieces and apply a little salt and turmeric. Keep aside for 10–15 minutes.
2. Fry Fish
Heat oil in a pan and lightly fry fish pieces until golden. Set aside.
3. Prepare Masala
In the same oil, add cumin seeds, onions, and cook until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and tomato puree.
4. Add Spices
Add turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until oil separates.
5. Add Water & Fish
Add water to make gravy, then gently add fried fish pieces.
6. Simmer
Cook on low flame for 8–10 minutes so flavors blend well.
7. Finish
Add garam masala, lemon juice, and coriander leaves.

- Do not over-stir fish to avoid breaking pieces
- Use mustard oil for authentic flavor
